The Promax Journal

How to Prepare for Bridal Makeup

A timeline for brides: skin prep, trials, what to bring on the day and small details that help your makeup last.

Two to three months before

Book your makeup artist early, especially for popular wedding dates. Start a steady skin routine — gentle cleansing, moisturiser and daily sunscreen. This is not the time to try harsh new products.

One month before

Schedule a trial wearing a top in a similar colour to your outfit. Take photos in daylight and indoor light. Book any facials now, leaving the final one about a week before the wedding.

The week before

Get brows threaded and any waxing done a few days ahead so redness has time to settle. Drink plenty of water, sleep well and avoid trying anything new on your skin.

On the day

Arrive with clean, moisturised skin and no makeup. Wear a button-down top so you can change without disturbing your look. Bring your lipstick for touch-ups, blotting papers and any jewellery you want included in the final look.

Help it last

Eat a light meal before makeup starts and use a straw for drinks. A setting spray and a quick blot before photos keep your skin looking fresh through long ceremonies.
